Building Engineer

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Full-Time Building Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance, mechanical systems, and a commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of our commercial properties.

Position Summary:

As Building Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of our commercial buildings. You will work directly with our property managers to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently for our owners and tenants. The role requires a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems as they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Routine and daily building inspections
  • Complete tenant work order requests as instructed.
  • Repair all restroom fixtures; clear drain obstructions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Replace light fixtures and light bulbs.
  • Replace ceiling tiles.
  • Perform minor HVAC repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Meet with necessary vendors and inspectors at properties.
  • Perform minor carpentry work.
  • Perform minor capital improvements, including painting, door replacements, etc.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages or equipment failures, and take appropriate action to minimize disruption and ensure the safety of building occupants.
  • Perform additional duties as requested
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in building maintenance, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance or facilities management.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards applicable to commercial properties.
  • Proficiency in using tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments common to the maintenance and repair of building systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license required; availability for on-call duty and occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary.
Hours
  • 40 hours per week with the option of overtime as needed.
  • Standard schedule: 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday- Friday.
